A Little Bit Of An Overview of Our Church In Glenburn

Glenburn Methodist Church has grown over the last 50 years within the community in which it is situated. As families moved into the new houses being built in the early 1950s around Glensharragh so the church grew in size. The families then are the backbone of the church now.

Glenburn has always sought to encourage people to find faith in Jesus Christ, to understand what it is to mature in that Christian Faith, to call people to prayer and Bible study and to serve the church or the community as God calls.

We place a lot of emphasis on and put significant resources into our worship, pastoral care and Children's ministry. We believe worship needs to be engaging and challenging and so we mix traditional worship with more modern styles. The church appointed Pastoral Assistant, Eric Freel, who has been visiting and working in a local housing estate. Some of younger ladies have run courses on self esteem, crafts and fitness, to make connections with women of the area. We also wanted to share with the community, so we started Prayer Care. This is systematic visiting of the whole community offering them prayer. The response has been marvelous and one again that has revealed to us the Power of Prayer and the many needs that people live with.

Our Ministry to the increasing number of Children includes Sunday School, Kids In Praise Group, Jesus And Me Clubs, Junior BB and GB and an award winning Table Tennis Club. It a recent survey of the church 100% of the people asked said they where satisfied with the ministry the church is giving to the children.

It is our vision for Glenburn that the impact the church has had within this community over the years, will continue today, although the methods may be changing. Therefore we hold regular times of prayer so that the Lord can influence our thinking, as it is Him we want always to be our guide.

Paul in writing to the church in Rome encouraged the Christians there to be the fragrance of Jesus to the people around and this is what we in Glenburn long to continue to be.
